Maxillary Sinuses Symptoms - Nasal Congestion- the Role of Humidity Control
While in Europe recently, I found that I didn't need to use nasal irrigation to prevent nasal congestion. I did bring along a travel WaterPik device which I often use for this purpose when away from home, but I didn't feel the need to use it even once for the entire month we were gone. I attribute this to the higher humidity levels in Europe compared to those in Colorado where we live.

The device I purchased was an inexpensive combination thermometer and humidity gauge. It was only about $4, but one can find digital devices with more functionality in the $20-40 range in stores like Kmart or Walmart. I would strongly recommend that people who suffer from chronic sinusitis make this small investment and keep a device to measure relative humidity in their sleep and also possibly their work environments. This simple item can be a significant tool in the regimen of all sinus sufferers to help prevent nasal congestion, especially while sleeping. Maintaining the value of Sinusitis was the main reason for writing this article. Only in this way will the future know more about Sinusitis. Smile

Normally use nasal irrigation with a saline solution once or twice per day. It would be unthinkable to go for a month in Colorado without doing this. I would almost certainly come down with a sinus infection during this length of time, even while continuing to take my normal medication.

Upon returning from this latest trip I decided to purchase an inexpensive humidity gauge and put it in our bedroom to deep a closer eye on the actual levels in our sleeping environment. Right now the levels are in the 50% range, which is pretty good. We live at over 7,000 feet of elevation, and we have several windows open at night at this time of year to cool off the room. During most of the year we do use a humidifier, especially in the winter months. When the furnace is on the humidity drops quite a bit, and I will now be able to monitor the levels and make better use of a humidifier with the humidity gauge. Air conditioning will also dry out the air in a room or in an automobile, so keeping close watch of this is important for people like me who continually battle nasal congestion problems. Smile

According to Dr
Robert Ivker, D.O., former President of the American Holistic Medical Association, the ideal level of relative humidity for sinus health is between 35-45%. I noticed in one of the hotels we stayed at in France that the humidity was in the low 70% range, and I'm sure it was at least that high at other times as well during the month. For whatever reason, this level of humidity seems to work better for my particular nasal congestion problems, and I have noticed before the general tendency of having fewer sinus problems while in Europe. We travel there fairly often as we operate tours in France. Dr. Ivker prefers to use a warm mist room humidifier which requires no filters and kills bacteria. He claims to have had good luck with Bionaire Clear Mist units. Give yourself a momentary pause while reading what there is to read here on Chronic Sinusitis. Many People Suffer from Sinusitis Every Year
The sinuses are cavities in the skull which are used to make the skull lighter, give room for the skull to grow, and to cool down the inhaled air. There are four types of sinuses in humans which include the maxillary, ethmoid, sphenoid, and frontal sinuses. The maxillary sinus cavity is located below the eye and to the side of the nose below the cheeks. The ethmoid sinus and the sphenoid sinus are some of the most functional sinuses and are located between the eyes and under the nose. The frontal sinus cavity is located in the middle of the forehead.

Our sinuses have important functions and it is important to keep them clear from infection and preventing it from getting to the point of surgery.
A sinusitis infection can become an inconvenience in many ways and also may cause future problems for the sinus cavities.
It is best to take care of a sinusitis infection at the beginning and to prevent it from becoming chronic and from leading to surgery.
The sources used for the information for this article on Ethmoid Sinus are all dependable ones.
This is so that there be no confusion in the authenticity of the article. There are Many Forms of Treatment for a Sinusitis
Nasal sprays are one common treatment. Nasal sprays work by distributing saline solution up into the sinus cavities. Nasal sprays are meant to moisten the cilia so that the trapped bacteria and mucus can be washed out. The problem with nasal sprays however is that they have large particle sizes that cannot make it past the inflammation at the opening of the sinus cavities and up to the sinusitis infection. Oral antibiotics and other oral medications are also frequently used treatments. Oral antibiotics work on infections by flowing through the blood stream to the infected area. Oral antibiotics are usually ineffective when it comes to sinusitis infections due to the fact that there are only a small amount of blood vessels in the sinus cavities which makes it difficult for an efficient amount of antibiotic, along with anti-fungals and anti-inflammatories, to make it to the sinus infection. Another treatment that may be used is irrigation. Irrigation, like nasal sprays, is meant to moisten the cilia so that it can function properly. Also like nasal sprays, it is difficult for it to make it through the inflammation and to the sinuses. Irrigation is also usually a very messy treatment. It was with great relief we ended writing on Sinusitis. There was just too much information to write, that we were starting to lose hopes on it's completion!

There are Many Symptoms Which can Take Place With Sinusitis
Commonly, a person may experience cough, congestion, facial pain and pressure, green nasal discharge, and postnasal drip. When the sinusitis infection lasts for twelve or more weeks it is considered chronic and can have additional symptoms such as loss of sense of taste and smell and the person may also become fatigued.

Surgery is a treatment option which is usually used when all other treatments have failed. Sinus surgery is painful and usually only offers short term relief since during the surgery they only remove a portion of the inflammation and infection which causes the infection to usually return. Many sinusitis suffers end up having several sinus surgeries in their lifetime. Using great confidence in ourselves, we endeavored to write such a long article on Sinus Surgery. Such is the amount of matter found on Sinus Surgery.

The Sinuses can Cause Many Problems
The most common problem is a sinusitis infection. A sinusitis infection is caused by a blockage of bacteria and mucus in the sinus cavities. The blockage begins usually with a cold or allergy. The sinus cavity lining becomes swollen when a cold or allergy exists. When bacteria get into the sinus cavities, they attack the swollen lining which then causes greater inflammation. The cilia, which are tiny hairs in the sinuses, are used to flush out bacteria and mucus. When the inflammation from the bacteria occurs, the cilia can no longer flush out the bacteria and mucus therefore it becomes trapped and the sinusitis infection begins.

Asked Carlton in a follow-up email if he had tested positive for fungi in previous allergy tests, and here is his response: 'Hello Walt: Thinking of life without Chronic Sinusitis seem to be impossible to imagine. This is because Chronic Sinusitis can be applied in all situations of life.

'Jens Panikau, sinus researcher at Mayo Clinic, has published a new finding that explains why sinus disease persists despite so many new drugs. Dr Panikau found that the main cause of sinus symptoms was that the eosinophiles ' your special cells that defend your body against infection, - get into the mucus and produce a toxic product called MBP that is made in order to kill bacteria. Unfortunately, among sinus sufferers, there is an excess of this MBP in the mucus that also damages the cells of the nose and impairs its ability to sweep bacteria out of the nose. Dr Panikau shows that it is the MBP that makes the patient sick, with fever, pain, fatigue, and secondary infections.'

Had 2 Different Allergy Tests, Both Negative
The Mayo/U. of Buffalo research says this is not an allergic reaction like a pollen allergy, so it wouldn't show up in an allergy test. It's an over reaction to fungus by T-cells that damage the sinus lining and gives bacteria a place to grow. Most people have no reaction, but most people with chronic sinusitis do. Apparently there is a test, but ENT's are skeptical. Mine said the fungus idea was false and suggested surgery. If I was cynical, I might think his opinion was because there's no surgical solution. Just as a book shouldn't be judged by its cover, we wish you read this entire article on Sinus Disease before actually making a judgement about Sinus Disease. Wink

I'll Let You Know How It Goes, but So Far, I Feel Much Better
Carlton' Huge Implications in the Study Results There are huge implications in this study for those who suffer from recurring sinus infection. This work could lead to treatments that treat the root cause of the problem for the first time. We have tried to place the best definition about Sinusitis Treatment in this article. This has taken a lot of time, but we only wish that the definition we gave suits your needs. Wink

CONCLUSION In conclusion, consider this quote from Family Corner.com: "Lastly, it is important to note that the milk we drink was created by God to feed baby cows. It is full of essential nutrients to grow a nice big cow, not a baby human. Nowhere in nature will you find adult animals drinking milk. Only the babies drink milk. Why should humans be any different? Cow's milk is for baby cows; human milk is for baby humans. Save yourself a multitude of health problems and make the switch to soy or rice milk. Or better yet, give it up completely.' It is the normal style of writers to add additional information with the intention of lengthening the length of an article. Symptoms of Milk Allergies
According to Dr. Agatha Thrash, (Ucheepines.org website), milk allergies aren't only sinus infections, rashes or a leaking nose. They can also lead to confusion, poor brain function in children and much physical suffering. Babies suffer the most since their nutrition comes mostly from a diet of milk. Children may experience pain, loss of appetite, itching or burning of the mouth with ulcerations of the lining of the mouth, all due to cow's milk.

Started to research this issue learned that that "At least 50% of all children in the United States are allergic to cow's milk, many undiagnosed. Dairy products are the leading cause of food allergy, often revealed by diarrhea, constipation, and fatigue. However, with hard work and perseverance, we have succeeded in providing an interesting and informative article for you to read.

MY STORY When my daughter suffered from respiratory infections, ear infections and sinusitis, I did not know that what I fed her could be contributing to her problems. At nights she would wake up screaming that she couldn''t breathe. My husband and I would run into her room, grab her and take her into the bathroom. We would run the shower''s hot water till the bathroom became steamy. Soon she could breathe and would start to calm down. Sometimes that wouldn''t work and we would have to go to the emergency room where they would put her in an oxygen tent to relieve her gasps for air. You may be inquisitive as to where we got the matter for writing this article on Sinusitis. Of course through our general knowledge, and the Internet!

Went to see the physician, who, after looking at my nose, asked me to keep a food diary. I was annoyed. I thought I was a healthy eater and this was a waste of my time. However, as I wrote down what I ate. I found that every time I ate dairy products, my nose began to run. Like my daughter, I too had a milk allergy. With people wanting to learn more about Sinusitis, it has provided the necessary incentive for us to write this interesting article on Sinusitis!

Swelling of the lips, tongue, chronic coughing, asthma, rhinitis, bronchitis, urinary bleeding, constipation, and recurrent pneumonia can be symptoms of milk allergies. Because of diarrhea, vomiting, abdominal pain, gastrointestinal problems can occur. Ulcerative colitis has been shown to have acute exacerbations with the use of milk. "In reality, cow's milk, especially processed cow's milk, has been linked to a variety of health problems, including: mucous production, hemoglobin loss, childhood diabetes, heart disease, atherosclerosis, arthritis, kidney stones, mood swings, depression, irritability, ALLERGIES." Townsend Medical Letter, May, 1995, Julie Klotter, MD. Inspiration can be considered to be one of the key ingredients to writing. There are many over-the-counter decongestions and pain killers available to provide relief from sinus infections. These can be in the form of tablets or sprays. There are also home major symptoms of sinus infection like a cold/hot compress, jalapeno pepper, ripe grape juice, etc. These can provide effective relief from sinus symptoms. But acute or chronic sinusitis requires continuous treatment from a specialist. We cannot be blamed if you find any other article resembling the matter we have written here about Sinus Infection. What we have done here is our copyright material!

Each sinus or cavity in the skull has an opening that allows free exchange of mucus and air. Each sinus is joined to the other by a mucous membrane lining. When there is an infection like hay fever or a disease like asthma, these sinuses and the lining become inflamed, causing air and mucus to be blocked inside or a vacuum to be created. This can cause pressure on the sinus walls, causing severe pain. There are four kinds of sinuses: frontal sinuses, maxillary sinuses, ethmoid sinuses, and sphenoid sinuses. Any part of these four sinuses can be infected, causing pain in that particular area. It was our decision to write so much on Sinus after finding out that there is still so much to learn on Sinus.

Other common symptoms for sinus infections are pain in the head, ear or neck; headaches early in the morning; pain in the upper jaw/ cheeks /teeth; swelling of the eyelids; pain between the eyes; nasal discharge; stuffy nose; loss of smell; and tenderness near the nose. Sometimes, there could be fever, tiredness, weakness, severe cough and runny nose. Sinusitis can be diagnosed by tapping the sinus areas with fingertips. Very rarely, acute sinusitis can lead to infection in the brain or some other complications.

There are different kinds of sinus infection symptoms depending upon the sinus that is infected. There can be pain anywhere near these sinuses. With frontal sinuses there can be pain over the eyes in the brow area; with maxillary sinuses, inside each cheekbone; with ethmoid sinuses, just behind the bridge of the nose and between the eyes; and with sphenoid sinuses, behind the ethmoids in the upper region of the nose and behind the eyes. This pain is the most common symptom for sinusitis.
